UNCHARTED TERRITORY

LETTERING, MURAL PAINTING

Snagart is a live painting event by Vancouver Art Collective held at The American bar. I was asked to paint at their lettering themed night. The live painting portion is a competition so I painted alongside Emily we each had 2 hours to paint a mural 3 feet by 4 feet. I was so nervous that I would run out of time so I had a strict schedule for myself of what I wanted to accomplish in 15 minute increments but 20 min in I realized I was going to be fine and could just relax and enjoy the process.

I had seen this phrase a few years ago and had kept it in the notes on my phone waiting for the right inspiration. I finally saw the full vision of using cartography to create a human form as the base. I had it in my mind that the canvas would be vertical and designed it that way but I was able to adjust it easily onsite to fit horizontal.
